Got any plans for the New Year yet?

How about spending an entire week surrounded by about 200 people from all over Europe – and they speak Esperanto all day?

That’s right, Esperanto – the artificial language! If you’ve ever been curious what it’s like to speak a made-up language fluently and be immersed in it all day long, don’t miss this chance: You’ll get to experience it first-hand 24/7 – and by the end of the week you might speak it pretty well yourself.

Intrigued? Then sign up for the Junulara E-Semajno (Youth E-Week)!

How does it work?

We will spend a full week together – including shared accommodation and meals (though you can also book your own accommodation or arrange your own food if you want). And then we’ll do all the fun stuff, only in Esperanto: sports, arts and crafts, music, theater, karaoke, dance parties, workshops and lessons for various skills, excursions, shows, discussion groups and much more. You’ll find yourself in an energizing environment where you can try out all kinds of activities, make new friends from around the world and just enjoy the amazing atmosphere. And of course we will ring in 2026 together!

Who are the other participants?

Mostly young people in their 20s. Most of them are already fluent in Esperanto – some are even native speakers – but some others are beginners just like you. They come from all across Europe, and some even from outside Europe!

But I don’t speak any Esperanto!

That can be changed by December. And even if not, you won’t be completely lost. We offer support to beginners, such as Esperanto courses and an orientation program for newcomers. Many participants also speak English and will accommodate you in English if needed – everyone except the native speakers remembers being a beginner once. You can also get assigned a mentor who will be there to answer your questions. Our program brochure will indicate which activities are suitable for people with beginner Esperanto skills. And by the end of the week you’ll be surprised by how much you have learned!

When is it?

From 28th December 2025 to 4th January 2026.

Where is it?

In Burg (Spreewald) near Berlin.

But I always celebrate the New Year with my friends!

Just convince your friends to learn Esperanto, too, and bring them along.

Who organizes the event?

A team from the German Esperanto Youth.
